The United States and countries around the world are promoting the use of alternative energy sources for everyday energy consumption. Alternative energy is generally termed as any source of usable energy intended to replace fossil fuels without the undesired consequences of the replaced fuels. The promotion of alternative energy use has garnered much discussion, both positive and negative and continues to affect social, political, economic, physical and ethical beliefs of cultures around the world. Below are examples of well established foundations or organizations for the use of alternative energy sources.

METI Hokkaido- The Hokkaido branch of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI Hokkaido) published two brochures in April 2008 that included case examples of utilization of snow-ice-cryogenic energy, such as cold air generated from snow and ice, for chilling or air-conditioning. One of the brochures, "Cool Energy 4," introduces case examples of its use in Japan, while the other, "Model System of Small-Scale Utilization of Snow-Ice-Cryogenic Energy," introduces systems in use for cold storage of farm products and cultivation.

Asian Development Bank's (ADB) Renewable Energy Development Sector Investment Program-This program is the first of its kind in Pakistan and also one of the first to be developed under ADB's evolving clean energy and efficiency initiative, through which ADB is planning to expand energy efficiency operations in its developing member countries to $1 billion per year. The program will expand the country's power supply, especially in rural areas, sufficient to serve about 600,000 new domestic houeholds with 4.8 million people. It will also improve reliability and quality of supply. The first program under the facility will finance a set of small to medium hydropower plants prepared by Northwest Frontier Province and Punjab.

The use of promotional campaigns for alternative or renewable energy programs can be very effective in promoting awareness and mobilizing these campaigns. When marketing budget is limited, the use of printed promotional materials can also be very effective. Printing services online enable fast, reliable and easily accessible print services. Uprinting for example, is an online printing company that apart from its website, also maintains forums, blogs and pages on popular sites such as Flicker, Facebook and Twitter.
