Promoting New Trends in Aquatic ZoosSubmitted by monica@uprinting.com Fri, 17 Jul 2009
Aquatic zoos, otherwise known as aquariums, have long been family and tourist-oriented destinations. Places like Sea World in California or Underwater World in Singapore, are constantly filled with visitors every season. Aquatic zoos have evolved from glass tanks to open-air and interactive animal exhibits. Aquatic zoos today are now trying to incorporate conservation awareness programs into the facilities in order to work with advocacy groups and scientists. These Aquatic zoos are undertaking efforts for public awareness for corporate or even federal sponsorship. Below are examples of conservation programs currently being incorporated.
Wildlife Conservation and Habitat Protection Funds - Aquatic zoos and aquariums today have a species research program, habitat protection, and conservation education fund. A non-profit, private foundation contributes funds to different wildlife and nature advocacy groups including the World Wildlife Fund and other locally-based organizations. Wildlife Protection and Conservation Tours - There are several types of tours inside aquatic zoos. Sea World in San Diego, CA and Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, FL are prime examples. The tours consist of a one-hour educational trip through habitat sites including sections of endangered species. The African white rhino or endangered ocean species like sea turtles are examples of what you might see. These tours educate visitors about the animal's daily lives, as well as simple ways to contribute to their protection and conservation. Behind-the-Scenes Tours - Behind-the-scenes tours are one hour trips around the aquatic zoo's facilities. These tours aim to educate visitors about how the park cares and protects for the endangered species living in the zoo. Promotional activities such as local community tours, press tours, celebrity campaigns, and political sponsorships all contribute to the awareness and continuation of these park programs. Brand recognition also add to awareness efforts through printing of marketing materials like flyers, brochures, calendars, bookmarks, postcards, or park maps. These materials can be printed using online services utilizing environmentally friendly inks and papers. One example of an online company that does this is UPrinting.
