Saving the Planet by Printing Green

The printing industry has also showed environmental concern by adopting green printing. Offset printing Sydney has been one of the firsts to revolutionize the market that has been known for hazardous processes.

In traditional printing, lots of greenhouses gases and chemicals are produced. Also, the used inks are amalgam of water, colors and metals such as barium and copper. Even the water used in post process remains toxic and poison groundwater and soil. The generated organic compounds have been attributed to occupational hazards like headaches, skin cancer and dizziness among printing press workers.

The offset printing industry of Sydney has switched to green printing all for better and good. Green printing companies use recycled papers and vegetable inks. They are FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) and ISO 14001 certified. Following the paper purchase policy of government, they make sure that papers used in printing are not made up of trees in endangered rain forests. Contradictory to the existing belief, recycled paper is less costly than normal paper and have the documentation proof called 'custody of chain' to endorse with. This helps you to showcase environmental concern socially leaving you in good books of people.

Along with this green printing using Soy Inks come as an added advantage. Soy inks are vegetable inks that are brighter and lighter in consistency. They are ideal for full colors printing and can give you all the glitz and gloss as petroleum based traditional ink. Soy inks' lighter consistency can easily be faded down while degrading the paper for recycling.

Most of the offset companies in Australia offer value added scope-3 services as a proof to their client. Scope-3 report is a ring side view and details of carbon prints and offset emissions made by the printers in complete process. They are committed to eliminate use of alcohol and other volatile organic compounds including soluble toxic wastes and metals in their printing practices. They have also introduced innovative technology named as Computer To Plate that removes the chemical part completely from printing.
