Search Engine Success Through Article Marketing

What is article marketing:


Article marketing is a web advertising technique that involves creating expert content and distributing that content to users for free on the internet. Each article contains a link back to the advertiser’s web page.


Why article marketing works:


No doubt you’ve come across untold poorly written, obtuse, or just plain factually incorrect articles on the web. But the truth is that search engines love original, focused, on-point content that has been validated by a plethora of incoming, relevant links. (Curiously, so do web users!). To that end, search engines utilize an ever growing litany of tools to weed out irrelevant/salesy articles and push the relevant/newsy articles to the top. By creating substantive, original content, you get a double whammy: you protect your content from the search engine spiders’ shearing scissors AND you can get free (or even viral) distribution of your advertisements.


How YOU can jump-start an article marketing campaign:


1) Write articles on your area of expertise. Make your content focused, smart, and non-salesy. It helps to add a unique “spin” to distinguish your articles from the 1000s of other like-minded pieces out there.


2) Attach what’s known as a “resource box” to each article. This brands the content as your own. Include your web address, company name, and business service description.


3) Syndicate your articles through services like iSnare.com. You may choose a paid distribution service to get your article out to more subscribers. (Many article marketing experts advocate paying for distribution, since it appears to stoke ROI.)


4) Continue generating new articles (avoid self-plagiarism!). Pay attention to which of your articles get “picked up” en masse by your syndicated community. Ask yourself: why did Article X attract people while Article Y didn’t? What kind of visitors did Article A attract as opposed to Article B? What constructive steps can you take based on feedback from your readers?
