SUCCESS: Desire = Discipline = Focus (Part Two)Submitted by brentriggs Sun, 30 Sep 2007
From Part One of this article, we found that Desire = Discipline. We learned that a persons true desire is only as strong as their ability to be disciplined and put forth the effort to achieve the desire.
It is very simple and easy for someone to say I wish I had my own home-based business. Anyone can say that. Anyone can wish for that but it is only the person who is willing to discipline themselves and do what is necessary to actually create a home-based business that truly has an authentic desire. Why the emphasis on focus? Focus is the difference between being productive with your discipline and actually being wasteful with your discipline. Focus can be the difference between time that is wasted and time that produces results. Focus encourages a person to measure every action against their objectives. Learn to ask yourself the following question at any point in time: Is the activity Im doing now getting me one step closer to my desire? If you answer yes, then ask yourself another question: Is what Im doing at this very moment moving me towards my desire quicker than anything else I could be doing at this time? Focus keeps you from wasting your discipline. Focus is the difference between treading water and actually winning the race. It can be the difference between partial success and complete success. Focus is the difference between taking the long way home and finding the most direct route. Although this is not a hard concept to grasp, it is very difficult to live with such great focus. We need to honestly evaluate what we are doing and why were doing it. We must be diligent to ask the focus question about everything we are involved in. We must be honest about whether we have a genuine desire, evidenced by controlled focus and discipline, or just a feel-good desire that is meant to impress others or even ourselves. Remember, a true desire is only as true as the amount of discipline you are willing to employ to achieve that desire. Your discipline his most productive and effective when it is laser focused. To focus means to evaluate every task and effort to see if it is taking you one step closer to the desire at the fastest possible rate. About the Author
