The Importance of Hiring Voice TalentSubmitted by Ravok Thu, 16 Aug 2007
Perhaps, after weighing the financial cost of hiring a professional voice talent, you're still not really convinced it's worth the cost. After all, actors do come with a price tag attached. If you haven't thought about just what exactly a voice actor can do for you and your project, then of course, you are still focused on the money it will cost. If hiring a professional still feels unrealistic to you, take some time to consider what you would actually gain.
A vocal professional knows how to use the quality of his or her voice in the best way possible. That's why so many untrained voices are unpleasant. It isn't that the voice itself is bad; it's that its owner doesn't know what to do with it. Take Marlon Brando's voice, for instance. He's a cotton-mouth, and a nasally cotton-mouth at that. But, because he learned how to handle those qualities, he instead developed a very distinctive, very nice voice. That is what professional training can do for a voice, and you can have the benefit of that training without having to do it yourself. A professional knows how to make a reading more realistic, because he knows where to put the pauses. So much of speaking is about the timing. If you aren't used to thinking about things like that, you may not know good speakers make such frequent use of timing, or that it has such a profound effect – but they do and it does. In fact, they know how strongly or softly to say certain parts, how to bring attention to words or make words fade into the background. A trained vocal artist will be able to guide your prospects and cause them to think what you want them to think – good thoughts about your product, service or message. But there is something that many people never stop to think about when deciding whether to hire a vocal talent. When a professional has done something for a while, they know how to do it quickly, and that includes learning their lines. understanding what the client needs and learning the best way to deliver the material. While that may take an untrained person such as yourself many, many attempts to even begin to pull it off, a professional voice-over artist can accomplish it in a short amount of time. And we all comprehend that time equals money. There are many issues to think about when deciding whether to hire a voice-over artist. It is imperative, of course, to think about the cost, but that isn't the only consideration. You have to weigh the cost of hiring a professional with the benefits they can give you. In order to do that, you have to understand just what services they provide and why they can do it better than you can. Then, if those things are important to you, it is obvious that your decision should be to hire someone. About the Author
