More info on Salvia Divinorum

Salvia played a significant role in this culture and over a long period of time, the substance was introduced to the United States by various researchers.

Many countries across the globe have not made Salvia illegal including the United States with the exception of a few states. Salvia divinorum is also called "diviner's sage" as it is part of the sage family. Salvia is produced and packaged in various amounts beginning with 5x and going up to 60x. The plant has become increasingly popular due to its psychoactive effects on the human body. The most common forms of ingesting Salvia are by smoking the product or chewing it. Salvinorin A is the active ingredient that is responsible for causing the effects of Salvia. Other factors that play role in the way people experience the effects of Salvia include how the substance is ingested, how strong the product is, and how much of Salvia is smoked or chewed. Other factors can include the environment in which a person is in when ingesting, the metabolism of a person, and tolerance levels.

While everyone's experiences vary after using the product, Salvia divinorum has a number of effects that people can feel. Most people begin to feel the effects of Salvia almost instantly and the experiences can last anywhere from one to five minutes. There is a range of experiences that people can ultimately go through and these are often referred to as "trips." While some individuals experience more subtle and mild effects, others can have more intense and hallucinatory outcomes. Some people experience intense relaxation and peacefulness where they have even reported to have the ability to meditate while being on Salvia. Others can experience uncontrollable laughter, multiple realities and altered perceptions. There have been accounts of people visualizing bright colors and patterns along with pronounced textures. Time traveling and associations with the past are also possible outcomes of using Salvia. Those who experience the strongest effects are generally unaware of reality and their existence in the material world while others can even make connections to the divine realm and the universe.

When the indigenous people used Salvia divinorum, their goals were to connect to the divine to find cures for illnesses and to also perform divination for rituals. A form of this spiritual connection and religiosity has continued to be a reason why many people use Salvia today. Aside from spirituality, many people have the desire to use Salvia for relaxing and stress reliving purposes along with being able to meditate. People ultimately feel that they become one with nature and the universe and after a few rewarding experiences wit Salvia, it is possible to become satisfied and not feel the need to use the product any longer. Because Salvia experiences are personal and individualized, many people enjoy using it to gain useful insight and knowledge that they otherwise would not discover in the real world.
