I think that is the most useless service because I would hardly get to know if the call received was an important one or from some random marketing company.

You have to use reverse phone lookup services which provide comprehensive details like the name of the owner, their full contact address, their carrier if it is a cell phone number along with other details. That way you will know if the number belongs to a particular company and you can even use this service to check on postal addresses and location of stores, organizations etc.

Lastly I would recommend using those websites which allow you to post complaints as well. This is because if anyone from a particular number is bothering you via constant telemarketing calls or simply by giving you crank calls then you can post this number and warn others as well. This will get the number blacklisted after a while and make sure these annoying calls stop right away. From time to time I do receive phone calls from people who just want to annoy others and play pranks via their telephones. If you receive such calls as well, then you should definitely post the numbers on a website which will allow the number to get blacklisted at least amongst its members.
