My Experiences with My Reverse Phone Lookup ServiceSubmitted by Jeru Wilson Mon, 23 Feb 2009
Reverse phone lookup services have shown tremendous growth over the last couple of years. I remember a time when I was one of the very few people using such a service regularly. My friends often used to ask me, why are you so obsessed with this? What is so great about looking up phone numbers on the internet? Well it is amazing how most of those friends of mine are now avid users of online services which allow you to check for landline and mobile phone numbers.
I have obviously used many reverse phone lookup services by now being one of the early users of these services. But for those who are still getting introduced to this world and are wondering what kind of experiences people have with number lookup services, well here are a few pointers from my own experience. First thing first, during the initial stages of using this service, I used to get really annoyed with certain service providers who maintained a database of only landline numbers. Even a few years back, mobile phones were growing faster than landlines and I received plenty on unknown calls from cell phone numbers. Whenever I tried checking on these numbers to decide whether to call them back, I never got any data from the online databases. This was of course few years back. What is really shocking is certain sites still only provide landline number lookup. While the number of such sites is very low and mostly all services do provide reverse cell phone lookup as well, it is quite crazy that few still haven’t updated themselves to looking up mobile phone numbers. I personally think you should stay away from these kinds of services even if it is free. The other thing that I noted was some of the services simply carried the name of the owner. So if you looked up a particular number, all you got was the owner’s name of that particular number. I think that is the most useless service because I would hardly get to know if the call received was an important one or from some random marketing company. You have to use reverse phone lookup services which provide comprehensive details like the name of the owner, their full contact address, their carrier if it is a cell phone number along with other details. That way you will know if the number belongs to a particular company and you can even use this service to check on postal addresses and location of stores, organizations etc. Lastly I would recommend using those websites which allow you to post complaints as well. This is because if anyone from a particular number is bothering you via constant telemarketing calls or simply by giving you crank calls then you can post this number and warn others as well. This will get the number blacklisted after a while and make sure these annoying calls stop right away. From time to time I do receive phone calls from people who just want to annoy others and play pranks via their telephones. If you receive such calls as well, then you should definitely post the numbers on a website which will allow the number to get blacklisted at least amongst its members. About the Author
