My mother recently took my two kids to the movies. I think they saw Shrek 3.

After purchasing their tickets, young Jessica saw the popcorn stand and then recommended buying the large bucket because the medium size just doesn't last the full movie length. And Sharlene added they needed to buy a large coke each. So into the movie they went.

Afterwards, when they got home it wasn't long before a couple of their friends came over and not long after that I could hear Jessica talking about Shrek and Sharlene laughing about "Puss". Then their friends were pleading with their Mum to take them to see the movie.

The very next day, both their friends went to the exact same movie theatre to see Shrek, they also got the "large bucket" of popcorn so that it "lasted" the whole movie length. You can imagine what happened the next day at school ….

At the end of the month when the movie theatre totalled all their ticket sales and the sales of popcorn and extras, you can be sure they didn't cut a cheque for Jessica or Sharlene for their promotional efforts. Not a cent!

We all recommend and promote, but we just don't collect.
