MLM Success Your Why is More Important Than How

Knowing why you're working your home business is just as important as how to work your home business. Don't believe me? I know it sounds like a way out there kind of statement, but it's true. The very first thing you have to do when starting your MLM, network marketing or home based business is find out why you're starting your business. Lets face it, if you don't know why you're doing it you are much, much, much more likely to throw in the towel and give up. Now that we've established that you need a why, here are some tips to finding yours.

Make it personal. This is the number one rule in finding your why. If it's not personal it's not going to motivate you in the same way. Yeah sure, we'd all love a Lamborghini and a penthouse in Manhattan. But, that's not personal for you. It's also a dream that is so far out there for most people that it's easy to shrug off and say yeah that's never gonna happen for me so I'll just forget it. What you want is something that's real to you, something that makes you feel something. It could be anything from wanting to spend more time with your parents to never wanting to miss a single little league game to having more time to volunteer at church. Find something that affects you emotionally, and you will be much more likely to stay the course when you talk to somebody who just doesn't get it!

Make it specific. If one of your goals is to buy a new home for your family, great! What will that house look like? How big will it be? How many bedrooms? Bathrooms? Imagine everything from the wallpaper to the flooring. Basically make it as real as possible to you. So real that you could close your eyes and take a tour of your new home if you wanted. If one of your goals is to take a great vacation with your family ask yourself, where do we really want to go? How long will we want to stay? You get the idea. The more specific your dreams are, the more real they become in your mind and the harder you are willing to work to make those things happen.

Put it on paper. Having all your goals in your head is great but it's not concrete enough. Take a piece of paper and literally write down the reasons why you're working your home business. Then, when things get rough (and they will get rough) you'll have something to physically look at to remind you of why you're working so hard. I recommend you write down 20 reasons to start out. Some of them can be bigger than others of course but remember to make them all as personal and specific as possible. After you've written your why down on paper it's also great to have pictures around you to give you that extra motivation. Have a sketch of your dream house on your bathroom mirror. Get pictures of your whole family together and put them up there as well. If one of your goals is to be debt free have a picture of a credit card being cut up. This may seem a little silly at first but trust me it works!

Working your home based business isn't always going to be fun. There are going to be obstacles, but if you really know why you're doing it you'll make it through to the end. I hope these tips helped you. Put them into practice immediately and start seeing the difference it makes in your business right away!
