On Using a Canvas

Submitted by expressregalo

Canvas is an extremely heavy-duty fabric used for functions where sturdiness is required. It’s a more permanent and robust surface. It could withstand pressure or rough usage. This is the reason why it is great for using indoors as well as outdoors. This adds to the effectiveness of the medium as an advertising tool.

Canvas prints are usually sealed with solvent-based varnish and is available in matte, satin or gloss finish. These helps protect the canvas from wear and tear and especially water, because most printing inks are vulnerable to water damage.

Usually used for making sails, tents, and fashion handbags, canvas are now used for the reproduction of art materials. Modern canvas is usually made of cotton and is used as a base for works of art.

Advertisers now realized the full potential of using canvas in printing their advertisements. It’s the best medium for advertising – it is durable and not costly. It can be mounted on a high space where a lot of people can see it. It can withstand any weather.

However in choosing for the design to use in canvas prints, one should be wary on the image to use as well as the text to add. Color to use should be considered as well because it needs to be in synch with the rest of the design.

Images with 300 dpi resolution or higher resolutions can be supported in canvas. The reason for this is because after the image is printed, the canvas is trimmed to size, glued or stapled and then stretched into bars or wooden panel.

Large format printing method should be used on canvas prints because of its huge size. Canvas prints of up to 59 x 100 makes use of UV protected links and is water-resistant. Canvas allows ink to penetrate better allowing for more lifespan for the print.

Businesses have a lot to gain in investing on using canvas for their advertisements because they are sure that it would last for a long time and a lot more people would gain from it.

The only disadvantage of using canvas in advertising would be the cost of printing. Using a large medium would also cost much because of the cost of the medium itself added to the inks used.

It can still however be the most promising way of advertising because money spent would be wisely spent.
