Customer retention is a very important aspect of any business. In fact, in today's economic conditions, it is essential to maintain your client base. In the past, client retention was not as important as it is today. Customers used to shop at the closest neighborhood stores and developed a personal relationship with the proprietors. In today's market, the stores are large and impersonal. Customers are purchasing more items on-line.

Now is the time to develop a personalized marketing campaign. This campaign can be used to let your customers know you appreciate their business and their loyalty. As you interact with your customers on a personal level, they are more willing to tell their friends and neighbors about your business.

As you adopt a Greeting Card marketing campaign, remember that the types of cards and the messages you send should be different than what you would send to your friends and relatives. You can acknowledge client birthdays, holidays and other events, just keep it on a more professional level.

For example, you might not want to say "Happy 24th Birthday, Angie." You might want to say "May Your Birthday be Filled with Fun & Good Times." This is personal, but more formal for business.

Keep the sales pitch to a minimum so the card is not construed as junk mail. Focus on establishing a more personal relationship. Some card ideas are:

Birthday Greeting - Don't have any sales pitch included on the card. You can print your logo and contact information. If you want to include a sales item, a coupon for a discount is a good choice.

Thank You Cards - You might want to thank clients for their business or for a referral. On this card you might include some information on a new product or feature you are promoting.

Holiday Cards - This is the time of year to really develop a more personal relationship with your client. Your logo and contact information is sufficient.

Try to convey to your customer that you are there to serve and help them in any way you can.
