Queens-A Luring Alternative to ManhattanSubmitted by melvillejackson Fri, 29 May 2009
New York City, the capital of United States is one of the most coveted places to stay in, albeit an expensive one. Being the most densely populated city in the United States, the main problem with housing accommodations in New York City is that the size of apartments are pretty small compared to the prices one has to pay for them. Thus, prospective home buyers and those interested in rentals generally find the outer boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens reasonable residential options.
Queens is both a New York State county and also the largest borough of New York City. It houses a population of about two million in an area of about 109 square miles. Queens has become the home of many immigrants, and has a cosmopolitan life and culture. A variety of languages like Chinese, Korean, Greek, Russian, Tagalog, French, in addition to English are spoken here. Queens has Brooklyn to its west and south, and Nassau County to the east. On the south of Queens is the Atlantic Ocean, and on the northern side is the Long Island South. It is conveniently connected to Manhattan by the Queensboro Bridge, the Midtown Tunnel, the Long Island Railroad, and through the subway lines. Laguardia Airport is on the north of Queens and JFK international airport is to the south, on Jamaican Bay. Queens is divided into five main areas. They are Long Island City-west, Flushing-north central, Jamaica-south central, Far Rockaway-south, and Floral Park-east. Each of these areas has several neighborhoods within its jurisdiction. Thus either the area name or the neighborhood name suffices for delivery of postal mails. Queens is not structured on the lines of a grid like Manhattan, but the area is divided into few blocks. There are streets and avenues connecting the blocks to each other. The streets run from north to south, and the numbers go up higher as one goes further east. Avenues run from east to west, and the numbers get higher as one goes south. Avenues run side by side with roads and drives here, so one may find that 65th Avenue, 65th Drive, 65th Road, run parallel to each other. Queens has all the necessary amenities for convenient urban living and commuting, thus making it a luring proposition for inhabitation. There are many apartments available in Queens; both for sale and on hire. You can gather information in a quick and hassle-free manner through the internet. Here you will find details about the finer aspects of renting or buying an apartment such as price, legality and other important particulars. Visit- http://www.aptnewyork.com/vacation-rentals-list
