Requirement for business blogs: good content

Submitted by irishs10y

According to experts, small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) should require that their business blogs include and maintain decent, relevant quality content.

Editor-in-chief at Econsultancy, Chris Lake, said that search engines like Google eat up "exclusive content."

He also added that if said content is standard or general, than SMEs "shouldn't even bother with it".

Mr. Lake pointed out that there are three identifiable phrases that are integral to the site they are attempting to optimize and creating blogs catering to them.

"You need to build a blog and base it around your chosen outcome. Then you write individual posts about the specific subject. From there, you just categorise then tag the posts with the relative terminology," he added.

He also expounded by saying that firms should attempt to update their blogs regularly and that the entries should always be original, never reposted.

The blogs need to have "a true, different tone; accept the public and always be outspoken".

He also placed importance on the community associated with blogging, saying that the users/readers should have the option to share posts and that every entry needs a "cool, attractive" headline.

He did warn, however: "Placing too much power to the PR departments when it comes to content writing isn't the wisest idea… bloggers need to have fun."

In the face of his advice, recently released research by the writemysites.co.uk suggests that nearly 72 per cent of smaller firms are not regularly updating their blog entries on any kind of basis.

This is due to many smaller online firms having grown, despite the economic slump.
