Rental Houses in Chennai

Submitted by 99acres

Chennai is one of the prominent metro cities of India. The city is popular for its IT industries and automobile boom. The city is well connected with all parts of the country through air, rail and bus. It also has a good network of metro rails, making the life of the residents simple and comfortable. In fact, the entire state is connected with a well developed highway. Due to number of prominent industries already located here and new industries setting up their shops, people from all over the country come to Chennai in search of a job. Their first and foremost requirement is a suitable house for rent in Chennai. Once this requirement is fulfilled, they start managing other things.

The Chennai property sector is growing by leaps and bounds and there are ample options available for people looking to rent lease or houses for sale in Chennai. Brands like Ashok Leyland, Ford and BMW have their offices in Chennai and many other prominent companies are in the process of setting up their shops here. In Chennai, the offices are generally located in the South end of the city. There are several IT companies also in Chennai which are mostly located in the MEPZ Zone or the new East Coast highway. IIT area and Velacheri areas also have many IT offices. The people working for these companies prefer renting or buying houses in close proximity to their offices as commuting on a daily basis is pretty cumbersome.

While taking a rental house in Chennai, there are certain factors that one needs to keep in mind. The desired location, distance from office, schools, market, neighborhood, etc should be the criteria for selection. Guidance from the native people can also be taken as they can tell about the best possible areas and also introduce the property seekers to the good real estate brokers. It is advisable to stay away from brokers who are involved in unethical practices and is much better to avoid them all together if possible. Areas like Pallikarani, Porur, Adyar, etc offer good and comfortable flats and their location is also very apt. One should normally go through the classifieds in the newspapers where sometimes landlords from Chennai themselves place an ad and look for good tenants. Meeting them directly is preferable instead of using brokers as mediators. This way there can be surety about the people who are going to be the landlord and one can end up saving on the brokerage. The situation is similar for landlords even, as they also look for good and reliable tenants who do not damage their property and pay rent on time.

While planning to go for a rental house in Chennai the other criteria should be distance from office, schools and markets. These are very important factors as one cannot change houses frequently and at the same time daily commuting to office and school cannot be avoided. One can look for a variety of accommodation in Chennai. Generally people prefer to rent first floor flat as it offers them a degree of privacy which is also similar is the case in independent bungalows.

While renting or taking a house for lease in Chennai, some of the other points to be taken care of are going through the lease agreement properly to see if there are any hidden points. Sometimes there are ambiguities in the agreement which should be clarified before hand as it may create problems later on. Guidance from a professional person can be taken to spot such things in the agreement.

One can also speak to the landlord in case any repairs are needed in the house later on, as this issue generally becomes a bone of contention later. Keeping in mind all the above mentioned factors, it can be concluded that, Chennai is a good place to live in and one is sure to enjoy their stay in this magnificent city facilitating rich cultural heritage to its citizens.
