10 Ways To Recycle Piling Up Trash

Submitted by willard_7ph

There are plenty of ways that you can recycle the trash that you have piling up, but some of them might be more creative ways than you might have ever thought. If you are able to recycle items easily, you'll find that you feel better about yourself, get rid of trash laying around, and help the environment all at once.

1.Take advantage of your city's recycling program. This will allow you to get rid of lots of trash that you might have.

2.Save plastic milk jugs and other plastic containers to donate to schools. They'll use them in art projects and you'll feel better about not throwing them away.

3.Save your newspapers for insulation. You can use them in the same way that you'd use regular insulation. In an attic or another area, you can line the walls with the newspapers. They'll help the regular insulation to work better and allow you to save on your electric bills too.

4.Advertise your old car tires in the paper. People might use them for gardening, to take to the lake to use as inter-tubes, or to use for their actual cars and trucks. You'd be surprised at how many uses there are for old car tires out there, and people will take them off your hands to use them instead of allowing them to be burned.

5.Think about what you can use in your garden. Using coffee cans for tomato plants, metal scraps for separators or dividers, and other pieces of garbage can be cute and interesting, and can also look really neat. You might want to use these things as well.

6.Donate items. There are many things that you would throw away, like old clothing, old household materials, and even building materials – but someone might want to get a use out of them. There are plenty of people out there who aren't able to purchase the things that they need, so donate them before you throw them away.

7.Save scraps of paper for school art projects. If you don't have kids, donate yours to a local shelter, school, or even an art center or after school project area. Your scraps of paper can be great art projects!

8.Also think about the art that can be done with metal things, guitar strings, and other pieces of garbage. You'll be surprised to find that you can get rid of things and use them without throwing them away.

9.Donate the food that you have that is nearing expiration dates to local shelters. Sometimes they will be able to give out the food more quickly than you'll be able to use it and it won't go to waste.

10.Use expired or rotten foods for fertilizing your garden, feeding the birds of other animals, or for compost.
