Five reasons why many are hesitant to start their own businessSubmitted by employmentcrossingU Mon, 15 Jun 2009
There are several business opportunities today. You can enter the food industry, merchandising, and even online businesses. This allows people to reach more customers at minimal expense.
Having your own business feels great, it is like purchasing a new home. You get to have something to call your own and have the opportunity to make it prosper. You can finally make your dream a reality. It is also great way to put what you have learned in action. Although it is very beneficial to own a business, many are still hesitant to have one. This is because of various reasons; some of which are enumerated below: 1. People do not want to shell out cash especially with the economic condition like what the world has today. If they want to start a business, they want to be sure that it will give them greater returns. The condition of the economy today does not ensure that. However, there are businesses today that do not require you to shell out a lot of cash; you can take advantage of that. 2. Some are also hesitant because they do not have enough financial resources, which would mean that they have to avail of a loan. Application of loans is a tedious task and most do not want to go through it. Many are also reluctant to invest the money they borrowed because they are uncertain of how the business would go. 3. Although there are people who have the resources, they do not want to start a business because of the responsibility that goes with it. Although it is great to have your own business because you can do whatever you want with it, the pressure is greater. You are expected to make the right decisions almost all of the time in order to ensure success of the organization. 4. Another reason why many are hesitant is because of the uncertainty of return. The uncertainty of recovering the invested amount is scary. Most want to be sure that their money will generate interest after a few months of investments. This seldom happens in a business because usually, businesses incur a loss during their first year of operation. 5. Many are not ready to start a business because they fear that they will not be able to facilitate it better. They fear that they do not have the capacity to organize the different processes. Indeed, a person who is going to start a business has a lot of responsibility. He has to make sure that he manages the operation well. He has to monitor his employees as well and make sure that they are performing, as they should. Although there are several advantages of starting your own businesses, many are still not happy to do it. This is because they are not ready to do so. When you decide to start your own business, you have to be sure that you are ready. You have to prepare yourself with the challenges you are going to face.
Starting your own business is great but not everyone is ready for it. One has to be sure about what he wants to do before indulging into a new business. Read another article on chief operating officer jobs.
