How to Get the Numbers to Crunch

Submitted by Dianeyp

No job is done until the Paper work is done! If you run any kind of business, you will know this to be true.

If you run a business, you have to also allow time and money for accounting and bookkeeping. If this is not your thing, then you should hire someone to monitor your sales and expenses, as it can be so easy to get into trouble if you are not on top of your numbers.

Not only do you need to be able to see your profits and losses, you have to be able to report to the tax revenue, and although none of us like that part, it should be number one in your paperwork. Keep all your paperwork in order, and submit taxes when needed, and you can avoid those hefty penalties that they so gladly hand out!

When you are coming up with your business idea, make sure you also get yourself some office tax software, or accounting software. Set up your office, so that you get into a routine of putting your expense receipts into one basket and your sales invoices and receipts into another basket, and then at least once a week, allow time to enter these receipts into your computer.

Make sure to back it up on a CD, the tax department, does not want to hear about crashing computers, so don't think that excuse will fly.

Accounting and bookkeeping, are one of the most important parts of your new business, without, them you would never know if you are actually making money or just spinning your wheels. So if you don't want to hire someone to do your books, then get yourself some computer software. They are so user friendly now, that once you get set up, there will be no excuse for not getting your paperwork done.
