Idaho is important as an agricultural state, producing potatoes, barley and other crops. It has also become a center of hi-tech and computer production in the United States, good things to know if you are attempting to start your Idaho Incorporation. There is still a good deal of food processing and processing of lumber and wood products as well as other traditional industries. In addition, since the 1950s, eastern Idaho has been home of the Idaho National Laboratory, a facility for nuclear energy research. The state is not as cold as it might be supposed to be, since a good deal of its weather is moderated by the Pacific Ocean several hundred miles a way. Idaho is a paradise for outdoor activities including skiing and hunting, with several National Parks in and around the state, including Yellowstone National Park. Grizzly bears and wolves are some of the wildlife of the region along with moose, deer, goats and sheep. If you plan to do any hunting you have to get a state hunting permit for the various hunting seasons.

Idaho's industrial economy is growing, with high-tech products leading the way. Since the late 1970s, Boise has emerged as a center for semiconductor manufacturing. Boise is the home of Micron Technology Inc., the only U.S. manufacturer of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips. Hewlett-Packard has operated a large plant in Boise, in southwestern Idaho and Dell, Inc. operates a major customer support call center in Twin Falls. There is a state sales tax and income tax, and higher taxes on hotel and other tourist accommodation. Idaho has become a center for ski resorts, starting with the internationally known Sun Valley.

Boise has been recognized as an environmentally friendly city, which in the month of May has a week of activities celebrating bike week. These events will culminate in a pedal power parade. Boise is located in Southwestern Idaho, and has a population of almost 200,000. It has long been a center of timber and other raw materials industries. Now, it is also a center of hi-tech industry, with large manufacturing and office complexes of Micron, makers of computer chips and Hewlett-Packard, a maker of scanners and printers. The city is located on the Boise River, a center of fishing, swimming and boating.
Further up in Central Idaho is the world famous ski resort, Sun Valley. Bald Mountain, going up over 9000 feet is a world renowned site for alpine skiing, and the whole area is a hang-out for the rich and powerful from across the United States.
Coeur D’Alene in the northern part of Idaho is a picturesque city known for its excellent golf courses.

Lewiston, on the northwest border of Idaho is connected to the Snake River system, and can receive ocean-going vessels, making it Idaho’s only port connected to the ocean. Idaho Falls, in the southeastern portion of the state, is home to the Nation Reactor Testing Station, a facility run by the Atomic Energy Commission, also known as the Idaho National Laboratory. In this region of Idaho, there is one of the world's largest concentrations of potato production and also of barley for beer.
