Penny StocksIf tomorrow there is good news about a surprise earnings upside in a large cap growth stock, say Apple (AAPL), then you will only benefit from the good news if you already own the stock as there would be hundreds of Wall Street analysts hanging on each and every word of the charismatic Steve Jobs and pondering the consequences of the small increase in his company's profit margin that translates to millions of dollars in earnings. In other words, in such cases the news is old before you know it, all the research houses have increased their price target on the stock, and institutions have bought pre-market thereby pushing the price of the stock to a higher high.
On the other hand, when it comes to investing in micro cap stocks (sometimes "penny stocks"), the individual investor has the opportunity to receive a stock alert and capitalize on an emerging small cap stock, which has neither sufficient Wall Street coverage nor any significant institutional ownership. Whether the stock market overall is an efficient market or not is a debate best left to academicians. What is certain though is that much inefficiency exists in the micro-cap market and the astute investor can seek double to triple digit gains on these.
It is in the micro-cap stock market, where despite the emergence of micro cap indices, that inefficient pricing can be distinctly taken advantage of. Indeed, if an investor treads into this thinly traded, most volatile and research-starved market, he or she needs a guide that follows these hot stocks and alerts them to emerging companies before institutional recognition. (The lack of interest in the information is the penny stock trader's advantage!) In regards to the above example, keep in mind that Apple itself was a small cap stock with a niche market before it became the company that it is today.
The best way to get access to the hot stocks that will grow out of the ecosystem of the innovation that exists in the micro cap stock market is to find the best of the breed among the plethora of penny stock newsletters on the web. One such site that comes to mind is www.hypergrowthstock.com. If you have been a subscriber to this site you would have been presented with opportunities that created double to triple digit returns in a matter of weeks. Most importantly, since not every hot penny stock turns out to be an Apple, whether you subscribe to this newsletter or others on the web, it is important that the one you chose sends you timely stock alerts to let you know when is the time to sell a hot stock because the market has overvalued its growth potential.
