Getting started in writing your resume for that restaurant post can be a mammoth undertaking especially if you're doing it for the first time. No need to be worried writing that one of a kind waitress resume that will get you that coveted job amid fierce rivalry isn't an impossible task.
On the contrary it can be quite simple considering that you already have an sense of the manner of company or job that you're writing that waitress resume for. When writing your resume, make sure that you are capable to highlight whatever thing and everything related to customer service, restaurants and the food industry in your previous work experience. If you've previously worked for a bar, a coffee shop or a deli this will give your prospective employer the sense that you already understand what you're getting into. With your experience, they know that you'd be able to work with smallest training and supervision and will definitely consider you for employment.
Most restaurants are also looking for individuals who can handle the most demanding customers during the meal time rush hours. If you've handled jobs associated to customer service, indicating that you have had the type of training that would allow you to perform with grace under stress then make sure that your waitress resume highlights that part of the job description in your work experiences. If this is your first job, make sure that your waitress resume gives particular focus to subjects and courses taken associated to the job at hand. Have you taken food preparation or baking courses? How about diet and diet seminars? Make sure to mention these weighty details as they could give you the needed edge over other applicants. Give them the impression that when the customers ask you the difference between a souffle and a chiffon or a shake and a sherbet, you can give them accurate and smart answers in terms of how the food is arranged including details which lead right to the calorie counters. It may very well make the difference in getting you employed.
Is your waitress resume intended for a specialty restaurant? For instance, if its a french restaurant and you happen to have had first-rate grades in your french class, then go right ahead and write that particular detail in bold face or italics. Merely make sure you guide your interviewer's eyes to that part of your resume. Choose your references to include those who are working in and have made a name in the restaurant and food business.
Needless to say select character references that can speak about you in glowing terms. Make sure your resume looks neat and professional. Creased and folded resumes, with glass and coffee stains give the sense of being clumsy and messy. Restaurants are looking for employees who can help them keep the cockroaches out of their territory. This means they are looking for employees who value sanitation and can keep the restaurant clean as well as orderly. It is a very competitive world and jobs can be difficult to find. Arriving for that interview with an impressive waitress resume on hand is an important first step in edging out the competition.
