Stay At Home Mom’s Business Opportunities—What Is The Truth?Submitted by PTerreros Wed, 4 Jun 2008
Okay, here’s the deal. Gas prices are up. Food prices are up. The costs of all your children’s activities are up. In fact, about the only thing that is down is the dollar. Yikes!
Of course, you already know all of this, right? I mean, you work what feels like 30 hour days between work and struggling to give your children the life they deserve. Even with that, more and more often it seems that there are more days in the pay period then money. What will you do when prices are twice what they are now, but your raise at work was only 3%? I’m sure you also know that the ideal situation for your children is for you to be at home raising them. How do you feel when you drop them off at day care? Does the day care worker really love them as much as you do? I don’t think so. Do your children, in their youth, really understand why mommy leaves them with strangers everyday? The truth is, probably not. If you’re relating to anything I’m saying, I have just one question for you….what are you doing? Why are you not working from home? Why have you not taken advantage of one of the many stay at home mom’s business opportunities out there? If you’re like most women, you probably think that stay at home mom’s business opportunities are scams or that no one makes money…or both. Well, what is the truth concerning that statement? I can’t tell you that there are no scams out there…there are. Of course, there are scams in every industry that you can think of. However the basic premise of a company that allows you to own a home based business is very simple. They create the product and system; you market that product and system and earn the profits from this activity. If you are not familiar with this idea, simply look at your local McDonalds or Burger King. Those are all business owned by someone who wanted to market an established product with a system in place. If that is the premise of how you make money with a particular company, it is probably legit. In fact, most companies offering a stay at home mom’s business opportunity are legit. That does not mean it is a good opportunity, but in most cases they are NOT scams. So, what about the idea that people don’t make any money? Is that true? Sadly, I must tell you that it is. Most businesses, 90% of them in fact, fail. Before you look at that number and give up on being a stay at home mom, it is helpful to look into why this happens. I have been teaching people how to build a home based business for some time and I can tell you that most people work their business as hard as an employee….as little as possible. Stay at home mom’s business opportunities are not the same as jobs. You will actually get paid what you are worth. If you want more money, simply improve yourself and you will have it. The opposite is true as well. If you sit on the couch, fail to learn AND apply the system, and fail to improve yourself when needed, you will make little to nothing. Consider this before starting your home based business. If you are willing to be coachable, teachable, and improve yourself where needed (as we all need to do), then you WILL be able to overcome the challenges and be a success instead of a statistic. I can tell you two things for certain. First, starting a stay at home mom’s business opportunity will be challenging. Second, trying to raise children who are spending the entire day in the care of another person is also challenging. You CAN make money from home and be a stay at home mom.
