Using Your Display Space WiselySubmitted by galaxywd Sat, 5 Jul 2008
Have you ever walked into a store to look at their merchandise and found that the way the owner had their products displayed made it very difficult to find exactly what you wanted? Were you left unimpressed by their products because they were displayed on beat up old shelving or display racks that had definitely seen better days? Were their products so crowded and disarranged it caused you to not even try to sort through the items to see if there was even something that you might like to purchase?
These display problems can really discourage a customer from buying the things that you want to sell, so having things displayed in a manner that invites your customers to browse easily will increase your selling potential. If you are selling clothes, you want to display as many as you can, but you also want them to be easily viewable without squashing them together so tightly that it makes it a chore for the shopper to find what they want. If you are selling books, it can be the same principle. The customer will want to easily read the front titles if they already know which one they are looking for and the front cover can also be what invites a reader to look inside. The ideal store fixtures will allow you display as many products as you can, but if you have a store that does not have a lot of square footage, this can be a challenge. When you have displays units that are uniform in style and size, it can help your store look better and function much better to display your products to their best advantage. When your store is small, you want it to be full but not cluttered. You have to make the most of every inch of space you have. One way to do this is displaying one of each kind of product you have and storing the rest underneath a unit, in the back of the store, or behind a counter. Hanging items high on the store walls can make a great focal point that draws attention to whatever is up there. Clothing stores find that displaying new items high is great way to bring attention to them immediately. There are many display techniques that can use the wall space close to the ceiling. This is utilizing display space that might have gone unused. Having display units that are very streamlined without a lot of ornamentation can also work well in small spaces. You may find it better that your displays focus on the products themselves rather than the unit they are on. This look can often be achieved by using slimmer metal displays that are accented with acrylic. You will probably want your display units to be light weight so they can be easily moved around your store when and if it is needed.
