Where would we be without storage boxes?

Submitted by davefisher

If you're moving house or office, you'll need a temporary type of storage box. You can usually rent these from the removal firm. The removal company will deliver the boxes to you a week or so before you move. After the move is complete, they will take the boxes away in their removal van. If you need a more permanent storage system, you can buy a wide range of storage boxes online. Here, the website will show you a range of containers with their dimensions and prices. The company will usually take payment online or over the phone and deliver your boxes to you within two to three days. To make things more convenient for you, some firms will deliver your boxes at weekends.

Whether of the temporary or more permanent archive type, storage boxes come in standard sizes, which helps when placing them in vehicles and on shelves in an orderly way. Not all of these boxes are stackable. But if you have the stackable kind, their standard sizes helps when stacking one box on top of another. Because of the different uses to which they are put, storage boxes are available in different designs and materials.

The simplest storage boxes are for temporary use, like when moving house or office. These are made of cardboard in two pieces, box and lid. They are cheap and light and are not really designed for long-term archive storage or for stacking one box on top of another. They come flat-packed to save space and for ease of transportation. They are easy to assemble, and often have instructions printed on them. After use they can be taken apart and re-folded into flat form again for re-use.

Archive storage boxes are usually made stronger. They are often constructed from a kind of cardboard that is resilient, and water resistant. Like the lighter version, archive storage boxes also have lids. But the box and lid come ready-assembled and are not foldable down into a flat-pack. They also usually have a slot at the front for sliding a label into. Sometimes these slots are made of metal. Because these boxes are quite tough, they can be safely stacked on top of eachother. Such boxes are usually cardboard-coloured but are also available in other colours like black. These can look quite smart and are often seen in trendy offices, lined up against the walls.

Plastic is another material that is commonly used for storage boxes and their lids. The lids can be separate pieces or hinged and connected to the box itself. Storage boxes made from translucent plastic enable you to see inside the box, so you don't have to actually open a load of boxes or read their labels to find something. Plastic Plastic storage boxes have the additional advantage that they are tough enough to stack on top of eachother, which makes storage more convenient.
