Who Needs A Receptionist?

Submitted by nickywalker

The employment of a PA for a lot of small businesses could be too expensive and for a home-based company it’s likely to be completely uneconomical, however there is another alternative. With the explosion of mobile technology and explosion of the World Wide Web, many seek to farm out their incoming calls and so contact a call answering provider.
In the present days highly competitive business world, businesses have to take advantage of all sources of trade that present themselves, but many could be losing chances or prospective sales without even knowing it. It is thought that around 4 out of 5 people hang up if they hear a voicemail message. So if a company is unable to manage their telephone calls and leaves it to the mercy of an answering machine, out of every 10 possible clients, 8 may well be giving their custom somewhere else to a rival.
Lots of small businesses and in particular sole-traders enjoy the flexibility that employing a telephone call answering service provides them, for many in skilled employment it means they can actually be away from the office seeing their clients and at the same time be sound in the knowledge that their calls are being answered professionally, politely and quickly. An excellent plumber may not be the most communicative person to speak to, particularly if he has just taken his head from below a toilet to pick up a call but by employing a telephone call answering service the plumber is able to get on with what he knows best and service his clients.
Employees at call answering providers typically work in compact groups of four or five people so that they become accustomed with each client. When taking a call they will follow on screen guides on what details to obtain ranging from name, contact numbers, company names, reference codes- whatever the client requires to run his or her organization successfully. The operators are able to then either transmit the message to the small business or act as a front desk PA and patch the caller through.
For a fraction of the price of a full time PA, the operator handles with the call in the same manner.

Nicky Walker has more than a decades experience in call answering services. Having worked within some of the biggest businesses in the United Kingdom and now dedicates his time to assisting new and start up enterprises.
