Wyoming Business- From Mining to the Rodeo

Submitted by eastbiz

Wyoming is a western state, with a population of about 500,000 and its capital and largest city is Cheyenne. The second largest city is Casper, and the third largest city, Laramie is the home of the University of Wyoming. Ranching is widespread in the state, though farming is limited due to the scarce rainfall. Farm products include beef, wool, wheat, and hay. Wyoming is a big state for National Parks, including such as Yellowstone, established in 1872, Grand Teton and the Bighorn Canyon National Recreational Area. There are no sales or corporate tax in Wyoming, which could help encourage you to make your Wyoming Incorporation.
The two biggest sectors of the Wyoming economy are mining and tourism. Over half of the land is owned by the Federal or state government. Mining generated $7 billion and tourism $2 billion in the state per year. Three million people a year visit Yellowstone National Park.
Wyoming has become the number one coal producing state in the United States, with almost 400 million tons of coal produced per year. It was also a major producer of natural gas, nearly 2 billion cubic feet, and of Coal Bed Methane, 330 billion cubic feet. Coal Bed Methane (CBM) is extracted from coal seams by the use of water and other solvents. It produced about 150,000 barrels of oil a day, as well. Another mineral from Wyoming is trona, which is processed into sodium carbonate, and used to make baking soda, soaps

Cheyenne is a center of the cattle and sheep industry, in terms of food processing and also shipping products to markets around the United States. Cheyenne is the home of F.E. Warren Air Force Base, which is the center of a network of nuclear missile silos in the western United States. Cheyenne has many National and State parks and forests nearby. There are also lots of golf courses such as the Little America Golf Course. In late July, there are Cheyenne Frontier Days, including rodeos, and other forms of western celebration. The community college in Cheyenne is the Laramie County Community College. The University of Wyoming is in neighboring Laramie, Wyoming and Colorado State University is about 52 miles away in Fort Collins.

Tourist attractions are important to the Wyoming economy. Near Casper is the Big Horn Ski Resort. The vertical skiing goes down 1,100 feet from an over 9,000 feet peak. Near Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park are found the world renowned ski resort, Jackson Hole. Also nearby are Grand Targhee Resort and Snow King Resort.

Yellowstone National Park is the United States’ first national park, and is still justly famous for sites such as the Old Faithful geyser and wildlife such as black and grizzly bears. With careful management, three million people visit it every year, though over 95-percent of the huge park is undeveloped. There are many other geysers and hot springs in the park. The Yellowstone River is known for its 400-feet waterfall in the middle of a canyon. There are an ample number of places to stay at such areas as the Mammoth Hot Springs, the Roosevelt Lodge and the Canyon Village. Fishing and horseback riding are other pleasures at the park.
