Strategic and Tactical Minds that Keep a Company Going

Submitted by employmentcrossingU

All typical companies consider the low-profile employees as the "backbone of the company" and without them, the company would not survive. Factory workers, operators, technicians, and the like produce the goods where the company's life depends on. They bring revenues and the firm's success; without them the company would not be as much. On the other hand, these employees also look at their superiors as their backbones for a fact that they would still need orders or directives from a consistent leader to perform well with their duties.

In normal situations, the owner of a certain company acts as the President, giving target goals and go signals for projects. Vice President Jobs create and innovate methods for such goals to be attained. Hiring the right people, providing effective programs for performance, and lifting the morale of the working environment would be the tasks offered making the position the most critical one in the company. Each decision a person holding such position makes should be thought of a hundred times, not just based on instincts or pure judgments but should be based on concrete facts, figures, and experiences from the broad, informative industry background. Each possible decision should be tested with all its pros and cons, the feasible results, contingency plans for each arising problem, and the next step after the decision has been placed into action.

IN-AND-OUT KNOWLEDGE NEEDED

With such rigid requirements and critical qualifications needed for such positions, one company trend is hiring a person with broad experience in all the company flows. These people would typically start from the grassroots level, and basically have tried and worked for each position in the business. With all the gathered experiences of the department, these people become experts in troubleshooting problems which might likely occur in such department and likewise with the whole company structure.

NOT ONLY STRATEGIC BUT ALSO TACTICAL

Jack Welch, a powerful executive of GE conglomerate, once stated the importance of gaining ultimate competitive advantage in a business even if this means plunging part of the company in total confusion for a moment. His reign over the company had 100,000 GE employees pulled out from their jobs with his vision of success – developing talents. After this, the dramatic expansion of GE was seen on such a short stint. Such decisions are not sweet voices for everybody's ears but still prove successful for the company. Vice President Jobs not only control the balance in its working environment but would try to equip its company with measures and methods to gain advantages over other competition. Strategic mind lays out the comprehensive plan for the business, all its loops, all the inputs and the results, the contingencies and the back-ups. But a tactical mind offers programs and efforts of gaining advantage in the competition. A tactical measure researches the plans typically thought by others and tries to manipulate its resources for a more successful way to gain and nourish its own.

Vice presidents play a very important role in an organization or a company. However, there are other people as important as they are to keep a company running. Both the backbones and the brains of the company are valuable.
