The Mipro Secret

Submitted by realsound

Founded in 1995 in Chiayi, Taiwan, the word "MIPRO" is from MIcrophone PROfessionals. MIPRO designs, manufactures and markets wireless microphones, wireless portable sound systems, wireless in-ear monitors and portable ENG receivers via an authorised, international network of distributors and dealers. Mipro is Taiwan's largest manufacturer of wireless microphone and portable wireless PA systems.

In the UK, Mipro is best known for their all-in-one portable PA systems. These feature re-chargeable batteries and integral wireless microphone receivers and/or a shock proof CD player.

However, manufactured for the past three years, Mipro have a revolutionary 'secret' product that is perhaps not altogether a secret. - It's just a very under-marketed product in this country and is therefore not widely known of.

The product is known as the MA-909.

The MA-909 is a breakthrough in the traditional design concept of wireless PA systems. It separates the control mixer from any amplified speaker system - unlike the traditional concept of portable "all-in-one" wireless amplifier as previously mentioned.

The mixed audio signals from the MA-909 can be transmitted wirelessly to inter-linking receiver modules installed in one or more remote active speaker systems, thus allowing the mixer to be set up in any desired location and without the need for bulky and inconvenient connecting cables.

The MA-909 is the heart of the system into which you can slot one or two MRM70-8-X 16 channel UHF wireless microphone receivers. These, in turn, can work together with any combination of hand held, lapel or headset microphones. There is also a slot for a CD/MP3CD shock proof vari-speed player (the CDM-2P) which itself also has a USB input for direct connection of your MP3 player into the system. Additionally, you can connect more a cabled microphone, a second CD or DVD player or perhaps the audio from your laptop PC. The MA-909 even has a line-out facility so you can record the whole show as well!

To complete the picture, a 16 channel UHF transmitter (the MT-90A) is installed which relays the ‘final mix' from the MA-909 out to the MA-707PA remote speakers. The MA-909 normally operates from a mains electric supply but it can also run on a 12V DC power supply which would make the entire system totally wireless!

As well as the integrated twin UHF microphone receivers in the MA-909, additional twin receivers are available to create two, four or more extra microphone channels. Each receiver up with your choice of hand held, lapel or headset microphones where Mipro again offer a range of options within each type e.g. uni-directional or omni-directional, miniature or sub-miniature, etc.

The MA-909 and its installed components are then teamed up with any number of Mipro MA-707PA remote speakers.

Each MA707 has an integral 70W amplifier powering an 8" full range loudspeaker plus two rechargeable batteries which can provide you with between 6 and 8 hours operating time from a full charge. The MA707-PA is ruggedly constructed for a diverse range of indoor or outdoor uses and features rear casters and a retractable handle for portability.

You can run any number of remote speakers within such a system as each MA707-PA has a plug-in UHF receiver module fitted (the MRM70-8-X) which is tuned to the same frequency as that being outputted from the MT-90A UHF transmitter installed in the MA-909. Transmission range is up to 100m and greater distances can sometimes be achieved. If you need to regularly boost the signal of your system, Mipro offer the AT-70+B antenna booster which simply affixes to a microphone floor stand.

The MA-909 wireless mixer combines the convenience of a small PA system with the power of a conventional wired sound system, providing you with flexibility and performance that was simply not previously available.
