Using Portfolios and Presentation Cases to Present Your Work

Submitted by jbiberdorf

After hours of hard work making sure your presentation is done right, and is ready to show the potential client, you need to take the steps necessary to ensure that your presentation arrives at the clients office in the same great shape it was in when you put it in the portfolio case. While there are many options available to you, some of those options are not wise choices.

One decision you will have to make is whether you need a simple art case, or whether you need a presentation case. The difference is that an art case is simply a way to transport your artwork and presentations from one location to another. A presentation case contains a 3-ring binder that allows you to place your materials in presentation sleeves. When you want to present the work in your portfolio you simply open your case and your presentation is in plain sight. You just need to flip through the pages to show off all of your beautiful work.

Presenting your work is only part of the issue. Before you can show your clients what you can do for them, you first need to get your materials to them safely. For that, you need to be sure that the case you purchase has enough support to not only hold all of your documents and artwork, but will keep them adequately protected for the journey.

Despite the care you take, it only takes one misstep to cause the contents of your portfolio case to become damaged. If you are using one of the soft-sided cases that are so prominent in the stores you run the risk of having your artwork being creased. When the weather turns bad, these cases may not provide enough water resistance to protect your materials from water damage.

The best solution is to spend a little more money to purchase a quality metal portfolio case. These cases can provide you with the support your presentation deserves without adding a great deal of extra weight. Because these cases do not rely on zippered closures they are able to keep the water out, and they can be quickly wiped dry once you reach your destination.

Another advantage if using metal portfolio cases is that they help to project an image that stand out from the crowd. While everyone else trudges into the clients office with their nondescript presentation cases, you will stand out from the crowd. In a very competitive business that might be all the edge you need to get noticed by the potential client. If they can remember you over all of the other presenters, you are that much closer to landing the job.

You are willing to spend the time and money to make sure your presentation is done correctly, and that you present yourself well, so don't go cheap when it comes to purchasing a presentation case to showcase your work. Look over all of the options that are available, and you will undoubtedly see why metal portfolios are by and far your best bet.

To protect your artwork, shop for metal portfolio cases or art cases.
