If you're looking to make money online without becoming a marketer, and find that you have fast fingers, you might be thinking about getting involved in typing work from home. After all, there is always a need for secretarial services. If you are disciplined and understand that this will indeed take work, and have a fast computer, and high speed internet connection, you should be ready to go, right?

Well, not so fast. As with anything, there are always going to be unscrupulous promoters who think they can scam the would-be work from home typist. That being said, what should you look out for when beginning your search for typing work from home? And how can you tell if what you find is real or not? After all a search of the term "typing work from home" yields 8,480,000 results from Google.

The main rule to follow here is: if it looks too good to be true, it usually is!
By now, most people know to be suspicious of websites that claim you can make thousands of dollars by joining up with them. BUT, lately, the new typing from home promotions make it sound like you work with Google, entering and typing ads for various companies. These sites claim to have a database of companies looking for people to "help them advertise." Of course, what these sites typically don't tell you is that you will actually be setting up and running pay per click campaigns, which, if you don't know what you're doing, can cost you BIG money.

Another thing that should set off warning bells is if a site promises you typing work from home but in order to get access to the "hot" companies, you need to pay a fee, usually around $49, but can be up to $97. Sometimes it may even be a membership with recurring monthly payments. Once you've paid, you'll usually get more of the same. The hard part with most of these bogus typing jobs is getting your money back. The main thing to remember here is that you should never have to pay for typing work from home.

One way you can definitely spot a typing work from home scam is if a particular site sends you unsolicited email regarding a job. Legitimate sites will never send out unsolicited emails and will have a rigorous screening process in place to ensure that they only work with serious candidates. Legitimate sites will also be very open to communicative with you as they want to be sure that you are a fit for each other.

That being said, there are legitimate typing work from home jobs out there. What you can do is go to some of the more well known freelance sites and set up a profile offering your services. Bear in mind, that the first few jobs you get may not be high priced, but you are starting out and at this point, you need to build your reputation. Once you got a few solid jobs under your belt you can increase your rates. As always, a key point here is to treat your customers like gold, as that will mean good references and repeat business, something that you want.

Ultimately, when searching for typing from home work, the best thing you can do is exercise common sense and don't be taken in by flashy websites or over-hyped promises of instant riches.

If you want to have a solid, actionable plan for getting your secretarial services business off to a flying start go to typing work from home.
