What’s Wrong with your Postcards?

Submitted by maricon

If you are one of those individuals, marketers or businessmen who are into using postcards as a promotional tool but is wondering why they don’t work the way you anticipate them to, well think again. There might be something wrong with your postcards.

Postcards can be very powerful marketing tools. Nonetheless, they can also turn out to be a disaster if not afforded due attention and care not only in the planning, production but to postcard printing process as well.

What are the reasons why postcards are made the wrong way?

1. Focusing on the cliché. Old and passé practices must be buried six feet under. It is high time to focus on fresh strategies that work with our clients. Try a bit of experimentation, exploration and work on new and bright ideas. This will surely give an edge to your postcards.

Break the usual habit. Sometimes, you have to bend the rules to discover that there are brighter rules yet undiscovered. Give yourself the luxury of discovering them. Chances are they are better than the customary.

2. Sticking to the conformist size - no more, no less. Think out of the box. Nothing precludes you from changing postcards size. Make it bigger. Make it smaller. Nobody will dare hinder you. Size must complement the design, text and color. If they appear too vague and blurry, increase the size!

3. Never forget to request a reply. You can be sure that your message is successful when it is understood. And one way to decide on comprehension is through a reply. Ask for it. Some may not bother to do it if it was not requested thus, initiative on your part will be vital.

4. Give your contact address and phone away. Communication is a two-way process. Both the receiver and the speaker must interact and express their thoughts. Thus, by simply putting your company name, address or contact number in postcards, you can yield responses from your potential customers. Make yourself accessible. That’s the way it should be.

5. Failure to cater to your target market’s needs. Seize the opportunity of tickling your target market’s fancies. You can include discount coupons in your postcards. That way, it will not be used for the sole reason of greeting somebody but for commercial purposes as well.
