AirSpeed Telecom awarded contract with Udaras na Gaeltachta to provide high speed connectivity from regional offices to Government network Údarás na Gaeltachta is the regional authority responsible for the economic, social and cultural development of the Gaeltacht. The body encourages investment in the Gaeltacht through a range of generous incentives for new enterprises and through support and assistance for existing businesses.

Under the terms of the new contract, AirSpeed Telecomwill provide Údarás na Gaeltachta with reliable and high capacity interconnections between its regional offices in An Daingean, Co. Kerry and An Bun Beag, Co. Donegal, as well as connecting the Údarás na Gaeltachtaheadquarters at Na Forbacha, Co. Galway to the Government network. AirSpeed Telecom will provide a bandwidth capacity of 10Mbps to each of the regional sites in Co. Kerry and Co. Donegal. Until now these sites had been operating at just 2Mb of bandwidth. In addition, Údarás na Gaeltachtaheadquarters will operate at a new improved bandwidth capacity of 100Mbps and connection to the Government network at 50Mbps.

The contract with Údarás na Gaeltachta will require the addition of a new high site at RTE Maghera in North Clare which will give the AirSpeed Telecom network access to Ennis, Co Clare and parts of Co. Galway. It also extends AirSpeed Telecom's reach into Co. Donegal
which is new territory for the company.

This is the third new contract win for AirSpeed Telecom in as many months. The company recently signed a deal with HEAnet to provide high speed network services to facilitate their network extension to the Galway and Donegal Gaeltacht regions. In addition, AirSpeed Telecom
also inked a deal with BreastCheck(NCSS) to provide a back up service for their cancer screening units nationwide.

AirSpeed Telecom's licensed wireless network is a proven alternative to traditional networks and also has the advantage of offering an uncontended high bandwidth service of up to 800Mbps which is uniquely dedicated to business customer use only. AirSpeed Telecom recently invested €2.3million in their network as part of a multi-million euro long term investment plan which
demonstrates the company's commitment to remain at the leading edge of radio transmission service provision in Ireland. This investment involved the addition of 23 high site locations to the network, providing a platform for greater national reach.

AirSpeed Telecom was also recently awarded multiple lots of 26GHz spectrum licenses from ComReg which will significantly increase capacity in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway for uncontended high bandwidth services.

Seán Ó Ráighne, IT Manager,Údarás na Gaeltachta says:

"This increased capacity network, that is now available to our head office and regional offices, will assist us in achieving efficiencies as it enables our IT systems to operate more effectively."

Liam O'Kelly, Managing Director of AirSpeed Telecom, says:

"AirSpeed Telecom is delighted to have been awarded the contract with Údarás na Gaeltachta and to be in a position to provide them with a first class, highly resilient wireless radio transmission network. Our licensed radio network is ideally suited to solving the geographic and
cost challenges of providing the organisation with a high bandwidth telecommunications service. This higher bandwidth capacity will result in increased efficiencies for Údarás na Gaeltachta. The new infrastructure will also provide businesses in the Kerry, Clare, Galway and Donegal regions with telecom services equal to those available in urban areas."

AirSpeed Telecom employs 35 at offices in Dublin (Citywest) and Cork (CIT Campus). Clients include RTE, HEANet, Dairygold, NCSS (BreastCheck) and Windmill Lane. AirSpeed Telecom operates a Network Management Centre which provides customers with a pro-actively managed 24 x 7 x 365 service. AirSpeed Telecom was recently shortlisted for the ‘Telecommunications Company of the Year' category in the 2008 ICT Excellence Awards .
