A Greek Strategy for Rome Total War

For those of you who have played Rom: Total War by Creative Assembly you'll know it's one of the best real time strategy games of all time - especially with the epic and real life sized battles. If you are playing the Julii faction (my favorite because they are red in color and of course red signifies the Roman Empire), then here is a little strategy you should consider right off the bat to maximize your profits in the end game.
Right away the senate will give you a mission to take the small town in northern Italy. Take it with one of the two armies you start out with. Next, it is important to take Patavium or the other city in Northern Italy. Once you have these cities under your control, then instead of going to the North to the Germanic barbarians, or to the West within Gaul territory, make your way over to the east where you'll find a couple rebel towns (easy to take) and the Macedonians and Greeks. Why do this? Because taking their cities means mounds of gold and dinarii in the long run. Trade in this area is very lucrative and you'll be gaining thousands in surplus every turn.

You'll have to be fairly quick though as your fellow faction family, the Brutii, will eventually and fairly quickly start taking over the area, as of course that is the place where they are suppose to go. I like to go into this area also because of the battles. You can see with great detail how Greek helmets might have looked like. Also, meeting the Spartans is ever so satisfying. There's nothing quite like getting your cavalry obliterated by the wall of spears or getting behind them and obliterating them. Once you take over the general area, you can go back and concentrate on using your funds to take over Germania and the Gauls.
