Charity Credit Card-Feel Good About Using Your Plastic To Make Your Purchases

Charity Credit Cards are one of the most popular kinds of plastic especially designed n for balance transfer deals but where once the focus was on how we could save money by shifting our credit card debt around, a new trend of making profit from our card use, or at least to benefit in some way from our everyday spending habits has come up. At its simplest, charity credit card is one which identifies the card holder with a particular company, organization, or field of interest. People seeking to support their favorite charities without extra cost to themselves are increasing the popularity of Charity credit card. Charity credit cards can also be viewed as variations on cashback credit cards, where a small percentage of everything you spend using the card is refunded. The only difference with a charity card is that instead of the cashback being credited to your account or sent to you in the form of a check, it is instead donated to the charity or charities linked to the card.

The first drawback to a charity card is that the interest rates, balance transfer offers, and other deals are rarely as generous to the card holder as those featured by other cards. Rate of interest charged is higher than many other card offers. Even putting aside the issue of higher interest charges, charity cards have another drawback – they offer minuscule donations in comparison to the amount of interest the cardholders are required to pay, and most of the time- they charge fairly high annual fees. The donation being made is as less as 0.25% whereas a typical cashback card will pay between 1% and 2% of your spending. Another drawback is that the money charities get from the credit card companies is not as tax-free, unlike direct donations, making it even less valuable.

If you are one among those who spend a lot of money on a regular basis using credit cards , and pay off the balance in full on a monthly basis to avoid most of the interest and fees, then charity credit card may be a reasonable option for you to make regular donations to charity.

Despite the fact that charity credit card holders had to pay higher interest rates and annual fees and receive fewer benefits than traditional credit cards still these credit cards are very popular. Taking the opportunity of the cardholders loyalty of keeping their credit cards and using them often because they believe in the cause they are donating to, card issuers literally trying to out-best one another in hopes of retaining and attracting new cardholders.
