Check Out History of BingoSubmitted by Fadhrick Wed, 22 Apr 2009
Have you ever speculated to imagine where it all started?
Let's make an effort to explore the avenues that constitute the history of the interesting game of Bingo. The modern day bingo game was originally a form of lottery. When Italy was united in 1530, the government introduced the concept of the Italian National Lottery. The Lottery has been held almost every week since then and eventually today the game of bingo is one of the most popular games in the world today. Most people are familiar with bingo games in town halls. But the enhanced design talks of the relatively new trend - the online bingo game which is rapidly becoming a popular concept today. In the United States this game started as Beano. It was usually found at county fair and boardwalks. The caller, as they are recognized today, would draw random numbers from a box of some sort. Paying customers would then cover numbers on cards with beans. If a player won, they would shout Beano to signify they had a straight line bingo. However bingo started first in Italy in 1530 as, Lo Giuoco del Lotto D'Italia which meant Italian Bingo. After Italy, bingo spread to France in about 1770. Here bingo was and still is called "Le Lotto". In France, it was usually played as a gentleman's sport by wealthy men. After seeing the success in Italy and France, Germany went on to adopt this game as a way to teach children lessons on math, spelling, and history. They would use a different version of the game with words or phrases, instead of numbers for spelling and history. This version was a huge success since children found it a great learning fun. When bingo came to the United States in 1929, the version Beano was played in Atlanta, Georgia. One fateful day, a failing toy salesman, Edwin Lowe, was watching a carnival game and saw a splendid opportunity before him. He started hosting games using small cardboard cards and rubber stamps. One of his friends got so excited during a win that he shouted "Bingo" while he was supposed to have shouted Beano. In, fact Lowe was so fascinated with this new term, that the New York native renamed this interesting game as bingo. Later, a Catholic Priest asked Lowe if bingo could be used as a means to raise money for the church. After Lowe gave his consent, bingo spread across the states. Slowly and gradually the fascination of this game spread worldwide and the game started being played all across the globe with great interest. No wonder why the online concept of this game is doing so well for itself owing to the immense popularity of the game through some of the amazing online options such as Live Bingo etc. Bingo Live, Bingo Live Free , Bingo Play Live are some of the interesting concepts that are now imparting differential edge to this outstanding game of immense fun and pleasure About the Author
