Lately there has been some question in my household as to whether or not online gaming will continue to expand and grow. The reason this was a question is that more and more we see people with less time for just about everything. Less time for family, less time for vacations, less time to eat, less time to relax and even less time to sleep. With all the constraints on the average persons' day, how can they ever find time to relax, much less log on to play a game? Based on this the question then becomes will the concept of online gaming continue to grow?
I'm here to give an emphatic YES to that question. It is BECAUSE we are so pressed for time and stressed that online gaming will continue to be a force. We are now more than ever constantly looking for new ways to relax, even if it is for just a few minutes. We are trying to find things that can, for however brief a time, break us out of our day-to-day lives and give us some relaxation.
Recent studies have shown that online gaming as a social trend is continuing to grow at an exponential rate. In fact this global phenomenon shows no signs of stopping. Consider this: In China, gaming revenue has exceeded $1.3 billion in 2008. In Korean, the industry is valued at more than $1 billion. By 2012, Europe is expected to be the fastest growing market for digital distribution. And in the UK, the online game audience has grown by 16%, four times the amount of all Internet growth.
So, you will agree that online gaming is here to stay. Now what if you wanted a piece of that pie? There is a network in place that is taking advantage of this growing trend and coupling it with social networking and instant messanging. Its name is uVme and it is at the forefront of these technologies.
