The PSP is thought to be a real jack of all trades when it comes to the things it can do, but many people still just use it to play games-if this is you, check out this article to see what you could be missing out on.

You can do just about anything with the PSP, Sony have made a real wonder machine. Who would have thought just a few years ago that today we would have such awesome technology. I use my PSP to watch movies and TV shows on the bus, and I really don’t know what I would do without it.

Here are just a few of the other things your PSP can do:

Watch movies-You can get special software that will let you convert regular DVD movies and other video files into files that are acceptable to the PSP, so the range of stuff to watch on it is tremendous.

View photos-Your PSP has a built in photo viewer, which will display any JPEG images you transfer across. This is excellent for those of us who have digital cameras.

Homebrew stuff-Homebrew is the name given to applications and games that are developed by independent developers-it includes everything from basic platform games that some 15 year old has stitched together to full on conversions of your favorite games from other platforms.

Surf the web-The PSP web browser is hidden away pretty well, but it’s definitely in there. Is anything cooler than surfing the web from a psp? You may need a copy of wipeout to get access to the browser though.

Play music-Ok it may be bigger than an Ipod, but when was the last time you played GTA on an Ipod? Having some tunes stored on your PSP is a real lifesaver when you don’t have enough juice in the battery to play games or videos-the music takes up much less power so you can squeeze some extra life out of it with some music. Ideal for long road trips!

Play games-Let’s not forget the reason the thing was invented! The PSP is only slightly less powerful than a PS2, which makes it a truly impressive machine to play games with. The range of games get bigger everyday too-they may not be as technologically impressive as the titles coming out for PS3 now, but when was the last time you took your PS3 on the bus anyway?

As you’ve seen, the PSP is a real versatile piece of kit. The range of things you can do with it is literally amazing, so hopefully this article has inspired you to use your PSP for more than just games.
