Large Scale Rc HelicoptersSubmitted by alfredloh Sun, 26 Aug 2007
Forget about the noise because gas RC Helicopters comes with the engine the sound cannot escape your ear. But here lies the answer to the question. Make sure you have set your budget so that you can limit your selection that would make buying easier. Use this information when you choose which type of RC Helicopter to buy. Electric RC Helicopter is cheaper than gas powered. It is also easier to fly since it does not require an engine. And finally electric RC Helicopter produces no noise and no smell. Just think of it this way: you are on the ground holding a radio controller while your RC Helicopter is doing its stunts on mid air with you taking full control of its every movement. is that not a stunning sight?. Hovering takes a LOT more power than forward flight which benefits from transitional lift so be prepared for it to sink faster than usual in a turn with no wind. RC Helicopter flying has become a better alternative to flying a real helicopter. It costs less and completely safe from crashing. But that is not all. RC Helicopter flying has become a hobby for those who have the passion on helicopters.
You may think simulators they are expensive at 160 to 230 dollars but I guarantee you they will save you that much in parts as well as time learning how to fly. The simulator is not a game. Each time you crash could end up costing you hundreds of dollars. Yes it is going to happen and it is fun some times to see what you can make it do however do not get into the habit of watching the helicopter fly into the ground. Practice doing left / right turns in front of you while flying your RC Helicopter back and forth. Almost like a figure-8, but always keeping the RC Helicopter tail in a little. Basically, just fly the RC Helicopter sideways to the left and right, in front of you, then start adding rudder so instead of flying sideways back and forth, the nose leads the turn a little. The helicopter will never turn with JUST the rudder or JUST the cyclic. You need to use both the same time. See repair parts. Are RC Helicopters much harder than planes? RC Helicopters are more complicated to fly than airplanes however it is possible to learn to fly a RC Helicopter by yourself which is next to impossible for an rc airplane because with a RC Helicopter you can fly a little bit 2 inches off the ground and land safely. If you descend to quickly you will enter your own down wash and the RC Helicopter will pull itself into the ground and need considerable collective to compensate. This is a bad condition. and a collective pitch (CP) helicopter can handle windier conditions as well (more power stiffer rotor head). If you want to fly with the airplanes (which they tend not to like when you hover all over the runway) you will need AMA insurance. http://www.rchelicopterguide.info/mini-rc-helicopter/dragonfly-mini-rc-helicopter.php In other words after you have bought and first flown your radio-controlled helicopter you might not be able to fly it again. You might question the danger it can present to the RC Helicopter pilot. The reality is homebuilt helicopter are as stable as any other types of helicopters provided it flies on a good weather condition.Do not forget to put the frequency crystal back into the tx after you have been using it with the CSM Simulator (since the tx batteries last 10 times longer without the crystal installed) it is a real drag to go to the site and just as you are ready to start-er-up you notice you do not have a crystal in your tx. Do not let the helicopter hit you! This is a habit you definitely want to avoid. Turn the gyro gain channel on your tx as low as it can go. This will make you control that tail! Practice hovering inverted and flying around inverted. Also see gas rc helicopter. RC Helicopter models are also available in woodcarvings carefully handcrafted to come out as a perfect replica of the original helicopter. What happens when you crash the RC Helicopter? In a light crash (bad bounce off a hard surface) you might break the landing gear and a couple other things in a average crash (lands on it's side) the first things to go are the main blades the tail boom the main shaft the flybar.
