Especially in the USA that are always one step ahead in trends as in crisis, but also in our country there is a new way to have fun. With wages and allowances always smaller and lower, now on Saturday evening people no longer need to go out and go for locals to have fun.

The latest trend seems to be that to gather all in someone's house and organize evenings of games and entertainment with the help of various games consoles, starting with the Nintendo Wii, that with its interactive games and suitable for all audiences has become the console that in the shortest time has sold in the world 50 millions copies.

Despite the crisis, the videogames industry does not seem to register too worrying losses. Global shares reached 32 billions dollars last year reducing sales of DVDs to 29 billions for the first time. It is a huge amount of money and will probably continue to exponentially grow in the next years.
It seems that the videogame industry demonstrates to be able to resist the crisis much better the most others.

Some decades ago, when the first videogames has started to appear, especially in the States nobody will ever expected the overwhelming boom of these years. Dominating the scene in recent years, however, there are especially Japanese companies like Sony, with the Playstation and the Nintendo that with Wii and Ds is actually drawing the crowds. Both the consoles of the Nintendo company have adopted software and games based on sales philosophies very different from the past, this means spreading the use of consoles even to segments of society that until now were not interested at all in videogames. On the Nintendo Ds is then possible to use the r4 card and so playing much more games.

On April 3rd in addition, came out the new Dsi, the new jewel of the Nintendo company, with two integrated cameras, mp3 player, but it also introduces the possibility to adjust the playback speed (pitch control), a fundamental function for the study of foreign languages. We can so easily imagine which software - in addition to the ones purely entertaining - will be on the market. In the end it was also introduced a port to read SD cards.

It is obviously clear the difference with the market of PCs, whose prices, like those of virgin CDs, are slowly descending, also this sector seems to feel the first signs of the crisis. The decline could be between 11,9% and 4,5% respectively. In this time of crisis seems fairly obvious, but there are also areas that suffer much less for the global economic recession, like for example that of notebooks that seems to be in good health.

For now, it is the Nintendo that exults. Since even in a moment of economic crisis, the sales of its consoles and of its videogames are thriving. But in an industry in the perennial quest for novelty and innovation to meet the public taste, the situation could change at any moment. Especially if Sony and Microsoft decide to base their future choices and philosophies on the ones adopted by the Nintendo for their products.
