The Dell Printer 1600n is a modern multifunction laser printer. It consists of an integrated 22ppm laser printer, a scanner that scans very clearly and can be used as a flatbed, or in adf mode; the adf platform is removable and this lets you scan thicker documents that fit into an 8.5x11 letter size to be scanned, such as books and small objects.

Copy speeds of text documents are faster than average for a laser printer, at 15.9 ppm. The 1600n prints dark, sharp, good quality text. The Dell Printer Toner Cartridge cartridge is comparable in price to that of printer ink if you consider how long the toner actually lasts. It is easy to change when you need to replace it. The toner makes for a good print quality document as well.

The Dell 1600n features are well thought out and it is made to be easily used, things like the buttons that are used to set up the printer settings and run commands are easy to see, insightful, and you do not have to scroll through a menu.

The Dell 1600n takes up a small footprint, and is fairly light weight. On the bottom of the printer is a 250 sheet paper drawer, you can also purchase a second paper drawer if you need it. The drawer and output slot for the most part protect the paper. The Dell 1600n looks less cluttered in a home office than a standard printer. The fax fits right into the device and is easy to use.

The Dell 1600n can put copies of 2 or 4 source documents on a sheet of paper, or can turn a single sheet into a 3 sheet by 3 sheet blow-ups by clicking one button. This is a great option and can be very useful. The set up of different formats and sizes could not be easier.

The Dell 1600n has a built in web server which uses standard html and allows all configurations that you could do via USB or via front panel. The printer will automatically apply the proper interpretation for the incoming data. The print engine is rated at 22 ppm; the output generally is pretty fast. The 1600n comes with 32MB of memory and this can be expanded to a maximum of 160MB.

The scanner is fast, the output is just as fast, about 10 seconds from pushing the copy button to the first copy, under 5 seconds for each additional copy. No warm up time is needed. Once you scan a document, you can either save it as a file, to e-mail, Paper Port optical character recognition software, or as an image.
