Do you want to improve the performance of your computer, but don't have enough budget to replace its hardware component? It's true that upgrading the memory, processor, video card and other main peripherals of your CPU can result to better performance; however there are simple methods to experience improved computing ability of your PC. This article aims to provide effective and practical ways of boosting the capacity of your machine without costing you a single centavo.

1. Use a virus scan program. Installing an anti-virus program is one of the most crucial ways to keep your computer in good state. It can detect malicious programs, trojans, worms and other forms of bugs which can hide in your computer's system and start slowing your machine. Scanning your PC on a regular basis is a good practice to keep it virus-free. Also, keeping your anti-virus updated will ensure that your CPU is always protected.

2. Defrag your hard drive. Over a period of time, the data in the hard drive will get stored and scattered in different locations. This cluttered and unorganized condition of system data and files will result to slowing down of applications and programs. Defrag helps organize and clean up your hard drive.

3. Check your hard disk for errors. Make a schedule to examine the integrity of your hard disk by checking for bad sectors and file system errors. Running the Scandisk program lets you know if your drive has problem.

There are several free anti-spyware programs available on the internet that you can use. In addition, deleting the temporary files of your system can remove malicious things that can infect your computer.

5. Clean the system registry. The registry contains the vital information and configuration of your hardware and software, as well as user's settings. Over the course of time, this registry will have invalid information due to some factors like improper uninstallation of a certain program and unintentional remove of data or file in the registry. As a result, your registry gets overstuffed with misplaced or orphaned information, causing poor system performance, error messages and the worst is system crashes.

6. Always empty your Recycle Bin. This quick step allows your gives your machine enough space to run software programs or applications faster; thus boosting your computer's speed.

7. Remove unwanted programs. There are programs that run in the background that causes poor response of your OS and registry clogging. So, keep only softwares that are important and you use. Apart from helping your PC to performance faster and better, this simple way will let your hard drive get more free space.

Go ahead and boost your computer. You don't' always need to spend big bucks to do it. The above listed methods will help your PC gain a new level of performance and efficiency.
