IBM LTO Ultrium 5 Backup Tape, A Big-hitter In Fast Paced Businesses

Nowadays, all types of organizations are experiencing a rapid growth in volume of corporate databases. Between government legislations and industry regulations, virtualizations and consolidations, acquisitions and mergers, the IT managers have to manage huge amounts unstructured and structured data. Operational, administrative and maintenance expenses take a tremendous bite out of your organization's IT budget. In addition, the constrained floor space and heightened security concerns are making data management challenges tougher than ever before.

LTO technology has a solid decade-long heritage, and has proven itself as the most economical and reliable backup tape format. Its latest LTO5 media tape generation features significant performance and capacity gains over its predecessor LTO ultrium4 technology. LTO5 tape format also employs breakthrough features that maximize the storage efficiency and provide robust data security.

IBM has maintained its top position in tape media industry since 1952. IBM and two other tape giants Hewlett-Packard and Certance (now Quantum) joined their efforts to develop this state-of-the-art LTO tape technology. IBM LTO5 tape is an excellent backup storage solution for data-rich IT environments, enterprise workgroups, video archiving, large financial databases, midrange storage management, data mining and complex servers. IBM LTO ultrium5 devices have been carefully engineered to provide higher storage value and longer life expectancy than other rival tape formats. IBM 46X1290, LTO5 is the first LTO tape whose native capacity has been extended beyond 1 terabyte. Enormous 1.5TB data can be reliably packed on to a single IBM LTO ultrium5 tape. So the customers will have to purchase fewer IBM LTO5 media tapes for their high-volume backup demands.

IBM TS2350 is a robustly designed LTO5 drive that achieves an ultra-high native speed of 140 Mbps. Furthermore, its SAS 6 GB/sec interface provides excellent support to a variety of demanding open system servers. The WORM (write once, read many) functionality was first introduced in LTO ultrium3 and 256-bit AES data encryption in LTO4 ultrium technology. Both of these cutting-edge technologies provide highest level of data security against unauthorized access, unintentional modifications and human errors. The next generation LTO5 features partitioning mechanism that eases data management and boosts the data searching speed.

IBM LTO ultrium tapes provide longer archival life and ensure reliable protection against harsh working conditions. For those loyal IBM customers, the part numbers of IBM LTO ultrium cartridges have been listed below:

95P4436, IBM LTO ultrium 4 tape
24R1922, IBM LTO3 tape
08L9870, IBM LTO ultrium 2 tape
08L9120, IBM LTO 1 media tape

Robust architecture and smooth base film make IBM LTO ultrium5 the best media tape for automated as well as standalone backup environments. Price of IBM LTO5 drive and tape cartridge is very economical. IBM LTO5 drive provides full write & read compatibility with LTO 4 tapes. It also has the capability to extract data from LTO3 media tapes.

IBM LTO ultrium5 solution raises the bar on performance, durability and provides high throughput speed that your IT environment demands.
