Tips On Selecting An HP Laser PrinterSubmitted by jacob@corysstory.com Wed, 12 Oct 2011
When one is selecting a new HP laser printer, there are many options that they must pick from. In many cases, if a person does not understand much about these types of machines, these decisions can be a bit overwhelming. However, by taking a bit of time to carefully examine the choices beforehand, one can find the right machine for their needs.
The laser printer has become one of the most popular types of printers over the last few years. While it has been around for many years, today it is regarded by many as one of the best choices to handle one's printing needs. Choosing the type of machine to buy can be a bit confusing at first, but by taking time to go through the different options one can make it simpler. One of the first things to think about is whether one needs color or if black and white print will be enough. While color can be much more appealing, in many cases, the ink can be more expensive and sometimes it can require longer printing times as well. For those who have small spaces, the size of the unit can be a very important consideration. Today's units come in a wide variety of sizes and styles. It is important to find a unit that not only fits the space one has for it, but also provides a good work flow for those who are using the machine. Many people may have the need to print on special types of paper or on different sizes of paper. It can be very important to make certain that the printer one selects can accommodate these variances as well. While it may sound good to have a printer that can accept all sizes of paper, it can also increase the overall size of a printer and use additional space. When selecting a machine it can also be very important to know how fast pages are printed as well as the quality of the print. Pages per minute is generally listed as PPM and should be around 5-10 for use at home, a business may need a higher number. DPI is the number that determines the quality of the print, the higher the number the better quality the print will be. These can be very important factors when selecting one's machine. One needs to make sure that the machine will also be compatible with their computer, cameras and other devices. While the majority of machines are made to work with Windows based machines, it is still important to check. It can also be a good idea to check the type of connections the machine needs, newer models use USB ports, while older computers may not have this option. There is a wide selection of HP laser printers from which one can choose. While the choices may seem overwhelming, if a person knows what their needs are and understands a bit about the different choices that are being offered, it should be easy to find a machine that will not only fit their needs but their budget as well.
