Ultra-High Capacity IBM LTO 4, 95P4436 Tape Cartridge Is An Economical Choice For Long Term Storage

With backup tape being the most cost-effective and reliable storage option, there is an increasing need for better performance and reliability mainly because businesses are required to disclose private data publicly. This impending need has encouraged IBM to develop it newest line of LTO4 media tapes.

The first of their type, the IBM LTO4 drives and tapes are designed to provide its customers with an extremely reliable, multi-functional backup storage solution. Also known as the LTO ultrium4, the IBM LTO4 tape has the ability to store up to 800 GB data on a single tape cartridge, almost eight times the data held by a LTO1 tape cartridge. IBM LTO4 has a compressed capacity of 1.6 TB and transfer rates are 80MB/sec for the native and 160MB/sec for the compressed data. Because of its exceptional compatibility with all LTO4 drives and auto-loaders, the IBM LTO4 tape is an exceptional choice for businesses of all sizes. IBM LTO 4 tape is reliable as well as affordable.

The IBM Ultrium 4 tape is also equipped with a technology known as LTO-CM (Linear Tape Open Cartridge Memory), which keeps track of usage related information including history and previous errors. This information can then be read using an LTO-CM reader, which features in some of the LTO 4 tape drives. If not, an external reader can be used to display the data in a user friendly manner.

The IBM LTO4 drive continues to support the WORM- capability, which was previously introduced in the LTO3 tape format. Other functions supported by the IBM Ultrium4 tape technology include independent tape loaders, threader motors, dual stage 16 channel head actuator, ECC (Error Correction Code) and SARS (Statistical Analysis & Reporting System) for better reliability and data protection.

With the introduction of data encryption technique, the IBM LTO4 tape is able to protect data more efficiently and is, therefore, more reliable. These tapes have been developed with great attention to data integrity, capacity and reliability. Due to its fast data transfer speed of 120MB/sec, IBM LTO4 has proved to be more successful in increasing the efficiency of data-rich businesses all around the world. The IBM LTO4 cartridges have also been tested many times with LTO tape drives in order to ensure high quality results and lesser chances of data loss. The LTO CM cartridge memory featured in this tape elevates the write/read ability, giving more to the customers by providing information about usage history and past errors. As a lesser amount of cartridges will now be needed to store greater volumes of data, costs will be substantially reduced. Similarly, lesser time will be consumed for high-volume backups as human interference would be decreased.

IBM LTO 4 tapes are highly reliable and efficient in even severe working conditions. The IBM LTO4 ultrium tapes offer a fast transfer speed as well as a decreased error rate making it the most intelligent and efficient backup data cartridge. IBM has proved to be successful in designing a storage device of exceptional quality, which is both robust and efficient, enabling businesses to better manage their backup data.
