Beware of Rogue Antispyware Programs Acting Alone

Submitted by bonobo

Rogue Antispyware program is one way people can defraud other people. These antispyware programs are actually fake programs and will not help in removing a virus from an infected computer. The creators of these programs know this and that is why they have mistreated these computer owners to help to promote their programs by saying they will remove the virus.

These programs are essentially viruses themselves because they infect the computer they are supposed to be fixing. These viruses are phishing viruses that would take advantage of any important personal information that is left on the computer. These systems are also known for their desktop advertising to buy a certain kind of spyware program that will remove the infected software.

The rogue starts to take over the computer by stating that the computer has been infected and the user should install this type of antivirus. The user installing the antivirus is what infects the computer because it is actually disguised as a real virus protection program. The computer of the user can be infected by opening email attachments as well. This is why emails should be opened with caution.

Once the computer is infected with the rogue antispyware it could display a system crash or alerts of malware. The rogue could also deactivate the installation process by not allowing people to uninstall a malicious program. The users are also scared into performing computer cleaning operations that may not be necessary. Another thing that might scare users is to flash alerts on the screen of spyware that has been detected just so a user will want to install an antivirus program from the company being promoted.

These systems also try to get users to install the programs so other people can make money off of the resulting installations. There is an affiliate program that is set up so these affiliates can set up their own infection procedures on the net with Trojan kits. Once there is a purchase of an antivirus program, then that person has made money. This is a very profitable business and affiliates could have made around 150,000 from the huge amount of downloads that were taking place.

People should use caution when dealing with any form of antivirus. It is hard to know whether or not it is a rogue antispyware program. These programs can do great harm to the computer for those not knowledgeable about them.
