People might be wondering how techy individuals or computer savvy were able to maintain a high performing, hassle free computer. What common people do not know is that there is also a required routine for every computer owner to completely protect, secure and maintain their personal, laptop or desktop computer so that it will last for a long period of time. How is this done, that is what we're about to discuss.

A computer is a device that accepts information, computes, performs calculations automatically and manipulates it for some result based on a program. In short, it is a programmable electronic machine that performs high-speed mathematical or logical operations or that. Due to this heavy-duty performance, it is just right that every computer needs to be well-protected and maintained from inside and out. Of course, no one would like to see their computer with a messy appearance and most importantly, they don't want their files to be hacked or be infected by malwares, spywares or other types of viruses. To top it all, it is great to have a well maintained computer because it runs fast and works smoothly without getting any error.

For this reason, there are a lot of ways to completely protect a computer, whether it is a desktop computer or a laptop or notebook computer. Aside from manually cleaning up the dust and dirt outside the computer chassis and monitor, you should also perform the following for a total computer security:

Disk Cleaning: A very important method to maintain a computer. Clean your hard disk. Do it every week. Cleaning up hard drive means you can delete files on temporary folder, Internet temporary folder, Recycle bin etc. Just about any files that are no longer in use. You can also uninstall programs which are not used very often. Try also to remove any Internet browser's toolbar or maintain just one.

Use Firewalls: Firewall is also important because it can keep your computer secure especially when browsing the Internet. It also protects computer to being remotely hacked. Firewall secures all sharing resources. So you can use it as a barrier that checks all network connections that might be linked to your computer.

Use Anti-Virus: Keep in mind that you have to use good antivirus software at all times. After installing, scan your computer at least once in a week. You should also update your anti-virus on a regular basis. Regular updates can be automatically set. Again, install a good and reliable anti-virus and keep it up to date.

Spyware protection: Did you know that spywares are more dangerous rather then viruses? Spywares can steal the passwords of your email accounts, credit card number and other personal information. It also slows down the performance of every computer.

Check Disk and Defragmentation: This improves your hard disk's working performance.

These are just some of the great method to fully give you a well-maintained, virus-free and totally protected computer. If you follow these methods, then your computer will certainly be up and running in good condition at all times.
