ERP Modules, Software as a Service, and More ERP Web Based Innovations Have Arrived
Online ERP solutions, such as SaaS or software as a service and software on demand applications have been growing in popularity over the last decade and have passed the early adopter phase. They are now a viable and sought after ERP solution for companies across the globe. The number are growing and have been growing dramatically each year with now more than half of all companies in the US and Canada are using one or more SaaS based solutions or online ERP modules. The demand has accelerated for the new online ERP solutions with new ERP solutions and ERP modules catering to sub categories of traditional full-scale on-premise ERP systems have and are entering the marketplace as companies across the globe scramble in this stressed economic climate to cut cost and drive more revenues and profits at the same time. The key drivers for the popularity of online ERP and Saas based systems are its low capital requirements to get started, a much faster integration and deployment, and low IT resources required to take on an online erp module or enterprise system. These factors are a multiple win for companies and their ROI investment requirements. The escalating user base across the globe these solutions, especially for smaller and midsized companies are the optimal solution as they strive to increase sales and save money. Analysts agree that above and beyond the technical benefits of online applications, in this tough economy the pay as you go business model is quite appealing and an instrumental driver for the popularity of these applications. The 30% growth rate of SaaS based and online ERP solutions in 2008 will be have almost the same growth in 2009 making the current SaaS and online ERP user base and even more so the future online ERP installed based a very real competitor to the traditional on premise ERP vendors and software solutions that have dominated the enterprise applications market for the last thirty years. As companies become more familiar with online applications, the number of hosted erp applications and vendors in the market will continue to grow. The popularity of these enterprise solutions and online applications are driving traditional on premise enterprise systems vendors to develop their own web based solutions to compete with the wave of new entrants in the enterprise softtware space and maintain current market share levels. Over the next decade, analysts project that one in three of all business applications software, not only enterprise applications will be a SaaS based solution. Although there are powerful enterprise SaaS applications on the market today, a full enterprise solution that is SaaS based is not widely used. Currently SaaS based solutions are predominantly focused on ERP modules or components of a enterprise wide ERP solution, such as CRM, customer relationship management, sales force automation or data collaboration software.. Companies looking for a single enterprise-wide solution will most likely need to go with an on premise software solution. That being said, there are a plethora of new cutting edge on premise solutions that are also becoming as a whole, a significant competitor to the "big" ERP vendors and solutions that dominated the market in the 1980's and 1990's.
