Handling BKF File Corruption

Submitted by technova

Every computer user maintains a backup of his important data at regular intervals. For creating backups, number of tools and techniques are available. One of the most popular backup creation techniques is creating backup through NTBackup tool that comes free with Windows operating system. Latest versions of Windows Operating System include Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) component that allows easy transfer of data from one PC to another PC. At times, execution of this component can corrupt your BKF file. The corrupted and damaged BKF file cannot be used to restore data in case any disaster ruins your data. In such situations, you need to take quick decisions and immediately go for any efficient and result oriented Backup recovery software to Restore BKF files. Once you restore BKF files, you can get your critical data back using these files.
Consider a practical situation, BITS is running while you are creating backup of "My work" folder. After the completion of whole backup process, when you try to access BKF file, you get the following error messages on the screen:

"Warning: Unable to open "Drive: Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftNetworkDownloaderqmgr0.dat"- skipped.

Reason: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

OR

"Warning: Unable to open "Drive: Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataMicrosoftNetworkDownloaderqmgr1.dat"-skipped.

Reason: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."
This issue occurs due to locking of Qmgr0.dat and Qmgr1.dat files by the BITS component of Windows operating system. When you create concurrent backups using NTBackup tool, these files fail to open and therefore the BKF file cannot be created. This situation leaves the backup file in an inconsistent state.
To resolve the above errors and successfully restore data from damaged BKF file, you need to execute BKF Recovery using right restore BKF tool. These tools use most advanced scanning methods to effectively scan damaged BKF file and extract all possible data from it. At present, n numbers of tools are available online. But finding a right tool is very much necessary for effective and successful recovery. Therefore, it is suggested to download free demo version of selected recovery tools before making any decision over purchase.
