Developing sites vary in length and some can take many months where as others can be made in a couple of hours. Outsourcing web development is no bad idea however as you can outsource quite cheaply now. You are most likely tied up with a job and so you can get it done much quicker if you outsource it. Also if this is your first site as you can get people who make sites for a living to make them for you if you outsource. This is no longer expensive and so it has become a viable solution for many.
