PST files of MS Outlook are categorized into ANSI and Unicode format depending upon their structures and size limit. In earlier version s of Outlook, 2 GB was assigned as the threshold storage capacity above which you cannot mount more data, i.e. PST file cannot hold database more than 2 GB. If in case the PST file size exceeds this default limit, it may result in corruption and consequently there is data loss situation. However this storage size did not provide any relief in the newer editions of Outlook that offered 20 GB storage capacity as with extension of file size, the speed of Outlook starts getting slower effecting many operations of Outlook like sharing, sending, receiving or carrying database etc.
